What is OKoume Plywood ?
Okoume plywood is a type of plywood made from African Aucoumea klaineana (Okoum é for short) as the base material. It is a lightweight, high stability premium plywood widely used in furniture, yacht, and decoration industries. Oguman wood is a tropical hardwood mainly produced in West African countries such as Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, and is highly favored for its excellent processing performance and beautiful texture. Okoum é plywood is an ideal choice for balancing weight, stability, and cost, especially suitable for large-sized furniture that requires lightweight construction; Damp environment (such as ships, bathroom cabinets); Modern minimalist design (light colored natural texture). If you pursue ultimate luxury, you can choose black walnut. If your budget is limited, you can choose poplar plywood. However, Okoume’s cost-effectiveness in the mid to high end market is irreplaceable.
characteristic
1. Material characteristics
Lightweight and High Strength: With a density of approximately 450-550kg/m ³ (slightly heavier than poplar but lighter than sabili/black peach), the strength is close to hardwood, making it suitable for making large-sized furniture.
Excellent stability: balanced moisture content, not easy to crack or deform, especially suitable for environments with large temperature and humidity changes.
Beautiful texture: light pink to light brownish red, with straight and uniform texture, presenting a soft luster after polishing.
2. Processing performance
Easy to cut and polish: Moderate softness and hardness, not prone to edge breakage, suitable for CNC engraving and surface processing.
Good adhesion: Strong compatibility with various adhesives such as PVAc and epoxy resin.
3. Environmental friendliness
Okuman wood is a natural tree species, and if the adhesive reaches E0/E1 level (such as WBP waterproof adhesive), it meets environmental standards.
